Barb and I took a 3 day trip over to the Washington Coast. Great weather for the ocean, cool in the evenings but blue sky day.
Left Everett- Tacoma- Olympia- then west toward McCleary- Aberdeen - then north up the coast to Pacific Beach State Park. The Park is located about a mile from Seabrook and 3 or 4 miles from Moclips to the north.
We had site 44 with no services, but it worked out fine. Close to the bathroom’s and all the sites in the park can see the ocean. The camp Host was Dean. Him and this wife sold the home 8 years ago and are full time in a Class A RV. They have been Host at Pacific Beach for 2 months, then they move on. Favorite Parks to Host are P. Beach, Fort Warden, and Grayland.
We had several wonderful beach walks, also into the town of Pacific, Seabrook, drove up to Moclips. About a mile north of P. Beach we found a beach access that allowed us to drive onto the beach- April 15- Labor Day. It was great after we decided we weren’t going to get stuck. Stopped for an hour and had lunch, walked around and enjoyed the time.
Star gazing was spectacular.
Barb made friends with a retired teacher. She came and visited multiple times. Very friendly and her husband was also a retired HS teacher.
We spent one evening visiting with Barb and John. John is a retired United Pilot and loves to steelhead fish- 69. His wife is an avid puzzler and the two Barb’s had other things in common- Vegetarian , retired, and of course puzzles. They wanted a tour of our van and then we went over and got a tour of their van which was a monster. Beautiful van with all the bells and whistles. By the time we were done talking it was dark. Very enjoyable couple.
Had some spectacular sunsets to watch on two evenings.
One morning we got up at 4:30 am to look at stars and waited around for sunrise. Then headed back to the van and to bed. I slept for two more hours and Barb not as long. Venus was blazing bright low in the eastern sky prior to sunrise, saw the ISS, Jupiter, Orion’s belt was bright, and of course Big Dipper, Casssiopeia, North Star, Little Dipper and others. Interesting early morning sky.
All and all wonderful few days. Pacific Beach is a place we’ve visited before and has rapidly become a favorite spot.
We headed out 8:30 am Friday and got back to Everett 6:30 pm..We made a last minute decision to drive north. So instead of going back the way we came originally we made a loop out of our trip with no back tracking.
Left Pacific Beach heading north- Moclips turned east for 25 miles to hit 101- Lake Quinault- Kalaloch- Ruby Beach- Forks- Lake Crescent- Port Angeles- Sequin- Hood Canal Bridge- Port Gamble- Kingston Ferry- Home
