Bayview State Park Northern Lights
Took a solo one night trip north into the Bayview State. This is between Anacortes and Mount Vernon. Objective- see the Aurora Borealis. The sun has been having very powerful solar flare storm which has sent the Auroras very far south.
The plan is to use Harvest Host site and find a place to sleep. Success reserved a spot at Shawn O’Donnells Restaurant. It was a very good location. They had a huge parking area, it was only a few miles from the location I hung out in to watch and I had a nice dinner prior to going out and parking.
I ended up in a smallish dirt parking lot 2 or 3 miles from the restaurant. It was actually the trail head for a dike walk out into the Padilla Bay Area. I did go out the next day, Saturday May 11th and walked a couple miles. Beautiful area, check picts below.
